Marine North Berwick

The hotel is close to the beach and, while it’s not the prettiest stretch of beach, the views are good and you can walk in either direction, towards the town or right out to our favourite, Yellowcraig, and beyond, for something more scenic. You can also walk into town by road if you prefer. We had a room with a sea view which was an extra bonus as I hadn’t booked that. There wasn’t a huge amount of floor space but this wasn’t a problem for us as we didn’t spend much time in it. If you expect to be in your room a lot, I’d book something bigger. I was grateful for the fan to cool me down as there wasn’t much breeze coming into the room. Cartons of water and toiletries were replaced daily and the room was always left immaculate. Breakfast was excellent, with a cold buffet and hot food cooked to order, and if you’re lucky, a table with a gorgeous sea view. We also had a delicious dinner in The Lawn restaurant one evening. The staff throughout the hotel were always friendly and helpful. We didn’t use the spa because we preferred to get out and enjoy some long beach walks in the good weather. It was good to know that if the weather had been less kind, the spa was there as an option. Free parking in the car park across the road was helpful as parking in North Berwick can be a bit chaotic!

The staff were lovely and accommodating, and we made use of pretty much every included amenity offered. The included breakfast was wonderful, the grounds and interiors were breathtaking, and the sea offered a wonderful cold plunge for those brave enough :-) We also thoroughly enjoyed the hydro-suite in the spa. A wonderful experience all around.

It is a large old hotel which has been recently renovated to a high standard and is very popular with golfers. We chose a room with a sea view which provided a beautiful vista across the golf course and on to the Forth. The same view is also available in the lounge which is an ideal spot to relax with a drink. Breakfast was also excellent with a wide range of cooked to order options as well as a fine selection from the buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach is only a few minutes walk away, the town centre is a very pleasant 20 minutes walk while the railway station is even closer. Buses to and from Edinburgh are about 8 minutes away by foot.

Convenient for everywhere I was visiting. It has a lovely pool. Staff are all friendly and efficient.

From the moment my sister and I arrived we were treated so kindly by all the staff and we were made to feel very special. I had mentioned it was my sister's 70th birthday and we had a lovely surprise of prosecco in the room on our arrival. My goodness, the double double room was huge! Loved the decor. The spa area was amazing, views immense, great breakfast 👍
